Mr. Hamm Was the aesthetic leader for the Mayo Island Bridge Feasibility Study.  The study, led by Amman & Whitney looked at various scenarios for cost and compatibility with this national landmarked bridge built in 1913 on a site that has had a bridge since 1788. Mr. Hamm’s role included the assessment of the bridge’s massing, decoration, lighting and overall aesthetics and pedestrian accessibility for the various options and develop a serious of visualizations for the community outreach program. Streetscape and park treatments for the approaches to the bridge and for the Manchester Canal Bridge were included in the study which was completed while Mr. Hamm was at Rhodeside & Harwell.  Mayo Bridge Carries US Highway 360 over the James River and is a setting for community wide festivals and is becoming the civic focal point for the revitalizing downtown.
